If you want to eat healthy and live a longer life, then cutting out fatty foods is a must, and this does not mean you have to sacrifice on taste. There are numerous low fat meals we can eat without really changing our normal diet too much and without losing the taste.

The idea of a low fat diet is to cut out saturated fats and trans fatty acids and replace these with more healthy oils such as olive oil for example. Some foods that you eat everyday can be boiled, steamed or baked instead of fried and sautéing foods will also substantially cut down on your intake of saturated fats.

Replace full fat milk with fat free milk and eat low fat yoghurts, creams and cheese spreads whenever possible. There are also many dressings that are now low in fat, so you don’t have to lose out on your favourite salad dressing! Just by changing the way you cook and what you buy you can substantially reduce your fat intake overnight.

There are also lot’s of recipes for some fabulous meals, using products you will have at home, that are low in fat. Good book shops will stock low fat recipe books that give you hundreds of examples and the internet is also a good place to look, with literally thousands of websites to choose from. Alternatively contact a nutritionist or dietician who can advise on low fat recipes and what is best for you. They will also be able to give you a list of recipes that you can cook for weeks to come!
